We are seeking a visionary Director of Catholic Schools to lead the provision of educational services across our schools, working closely with heads of shared services to support schools in achieving outstanding educational outcomes. This pivotal leadership role will drive and unify a systemic approach to education, championing growth, improvement, and the values of our Catholic faith.
Key Responsibilities:
Foster a positive, high-performance culture that encourages collaboration, accountability, and trust in alignment with the Diocese's educational strategy.
Lead and implement strategic change initiatives that drive continuous improvement in educational outcomes across all schools.
Ensure that the curriculum reflects Catholic principles and the unique mission of Catholic educators.
Unify and lead one systemic educational approach across all diocesan schools.
Support principals in leveraging data to develop strategies that advance system and school objectives, ensuring ongoing compliance.
Provide critical support for principals in managing complex operational and educational issues.
Resolve high-level sensitive issues with efficiency and care, addressing matters of educational, industrial, legal, and political significance.
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to foster collaboration and address issues that benefit the schools and their communities.
Work closely with shared services leaders to identify and leverage opportunities for growth, innovation, and improvement.

The Director of Catholic Schools is responsible for providing visionary leadership and strategic oversight to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality Catholic education across all schools within the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese.
This role is central to fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement, grounded in Catholic values and the unique mission of Catholic education.
The Director of Catholic Schools will drive systemic change, unify educational approaches, and support school leaders in achieving enhanced educational outcomes. Through strategic partnerships, data-driven decision-making, and the resolution of complex issues, the Director of Catholic Schools will ensure that the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese’s Catholic schools remain responsive, innovative, and aligned with both the diocesan mission and broader educational goals. This position plays a key role in empowering principals, fostering
community relationships, and advancing the overall success and growth of the Diocese’s schools

Desired Skills and Experience
EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA
Demonstrated experience leading and managing diverse teams, including the ability to develop staff, manage complex staffing issues, and manage response to organisational change.
Experience in an educational institution, showing understanding of the student lifecycle and associated measures.
Experience and understanding educational governance and familiarity with the relevant statutory requirements.
Experience in the development and delivery of strategic objectives, academic and operational policy, and procedure.
Strong project and change management skills with a track record of successful implementation of complex projects.
Experience in budget preparation and management, especially workforce budgets and demonstrated commercial acumen.
QUALIFICATIONS
Postgraduate qualifications in education, educational leadership combined with demonstrated teaching experience and experience as senior educator, or an equivalent combination of experience, training, and achievement
Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number
Current NSW Driver’s License
