Are you passionate about inspiring young minds and fostering a vibrant faith community? St Dominic's Catholic College Mayfield is on the lookout for a Temporary Part-Time (0.5FTE) Religious Education & Ministry Coordinator to join our dedicated team for the remainder of 2025.

St. Dominic’s Catholic College is a co-educational K-12 systemic Catholic specialist school located in Mayfield, New South Wales, just 15 minutes from the CBD of Newcastle. We are dedicated to providing a transformative educational experience for students with diverse learning needs, including autism spectrum disorder, deafness and/or hearing impairment, and intellectual disabilities. Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Religious Education and Ministry Coordinator (REMC) in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle is a key religious leader within the school community, serving as a member of the school executive team. The REMC support the Principal and Parish Priest in promoting and affirming the Catholic identity, culture, and mission of the school. They represent the school and the teaching profession within the wider community, particularly the parish, and are recognised as professional, ethical, and respected leaders. The REMC collaborates to develop a shared vision that fosters quality educational experiences and positive learning outcomes for all students.

Desired Skills and Experience

EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA

  • Practising Catholic active in the life of a Eucharistic community, with an understanding of their baptismal call to share and witness the good news of Jesus Christ.
  • Expertise in Catholic Education and Religious Instruction: A deep understanding of Catholic Education philosophy, theology, and Religious Education frameworks, with the ability to integrate Catholic principles and teachings across all learning areas, including the Diocesan (K–12) RE Syllabus, formative pathways, liturgy, prayer, and rituals.
  • Leadership in Faith Formation and Continuous Improvement: Proven ability to develop and implement a Formation Framework, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and empower teachers as leaders in learning while promoting faith formation throughout the school community.
  • Collaboration and Community Engagement: Strong capacity to build relationships within the school and broader parish community, collaborate effectively as part of the leadership team, and review practices such as liturgy, prayer, and social justice, using feedback and data to align with Catholic values and enhance student learning outcomes.
  • Compliance and Accreditation Leadership: Proven ability to assist the principal in maintaining staff compliance with accreditation policies and manage COSI compliance across curriculum and noncurriculum areas.
  • Pastoral Leadership and Support: Capacity to be pastorally present to staff, students, and families, collaborating with the Pastoral Team to implement pastoral care initiatives and foster a supportive community environment.
  • Leadership in Professional Learning: Proven ability to lead K–12 professional learning in Religious Education, fostering staff development and promoting a culture of growth.
  • CSO Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead Policy – Accreditation at Category E – Accreditation for Senior Leadership (or a commitment to work towards accreditation). 
  • Proven capacity to manage COSI compliance matters in both curriculum and non-curriculum areas (Desirable).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Qualifications as a four-year trained teacher.
  • Active NESA Accreditation.
  • Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number 
  • Completion of anaphylaxis training
  • CSO Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead Policy – Accreditation at Category E.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2023.
